Corn, although often referred to as a vegetable, is actually a grain. It is yellow in colour and has a sweet succulent taste. The edible seeds or kernels grow along a long woody axis called an ear. You can either bite corn straight off the cob or remove the kernels before eating. Corn grows mostly during the summer months, but is available all year round in frozen and canned varieties.
