Tuna is a species of large ocean fish. There are several types of tuna, however, the most common species we eat are blue fin, albacore, bonito and yellow fin which vary in colour and flavour. It has a mild, meaty taste. In the past, most tuna was consumed from cans, however, fresh fillets have become more popular along with raw tuna eaten as sushi or sashimi.

Tuna is low in saturated fat and is packed with protein and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. It also contains vitamin D.
