Simplot is committed to enhanced wellbeing by providing a range of healthy and nutritious food products, and recognises the importance of these foods in nuturing the growth and development of children.
There is currently no national governing School Canteens Association to provide assistance to school canteen managers in choosing foods which can be classified as healthy. Each state has a different school policy which is used as a tool by various School Canteens Asscociations to encourage healthy eating behaviours in school aged children. These School Canteens Associations set guidelines and criteria for the many food and drink categories which are used to determine whether a product is eligible for inclusion in the buyer's guide. Often a 'traffic light' system is used to categorise how healthy a product is.
Healthy Kids School Canteen Association - Making healthy choices, easier choices!
The aim of the Healthy Kids School Canteen Association is to promote the provision of healthy foods to children, influence food choices within families and school communities and encourage the celebration of food and eating together.
Simplot has responded to the Healthy Kids School Canteen strategies and produced a range of healthier products for school canteens which are listed in the Healthy Kids Buyers Guide. In addition to this we have created a product list containing all Simplot products currently registered with the Healthy Kids School Canteens Association.
