Simplot Australia believes that innovation comes from creativity. To bring to life its commitment to providing Australians with innovative food for good living, an alliance with the Victorian College of the Arts was established. Simplot Australia firmly believes that sponsorship of the students of the VCA, Australia's elite national and international arts training college, is an investment in Australia's youth and future cultural wealth.
The Simplot International Masterclass Series was developed in 2004 and we have been thrilled to sponsor world renown artists to work closely with the students in all artistic fields, including music, dance, art, sculpture and film.
DONATIONS
Our company is well integrated in the communities where it runs its industrial and commercial operations, through its social and humanitarian actions.
The Chief Financial Officer deals with the requests for financial support for projects linked to the Company's activities, in the areas of nutrition, science, the arts and sports, as well as humanitarian aid.
In the event of natural disasters Simplot Australia contributes to the rescue operations and emergency aid through its local companies or representatives, providing various products.
The giving of financial support is studied on a case by case basis.
SIMPLOT AUSTRALIA AND AFS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Since 1999 Simplot Australia has supported the AFS sponsorship and exchange program. AFS is one of the oldest and respected exchange organisations in the world. Annually 10,000 students set off on an international experience which provides an opportunity to cross language and cultural barriers. AFS participants learn to be adaptable, sensitive to the local cultural differences, to respect diversity and develop intellectual and technical skills that will be required in our global future.
Simplot Australia is proud to support the development of young Australians. Sponsorship is open to any child, grandchild or sibling of a Simplot Australia employee attending senior secondary school in Australia.
FOODBANK AUSTRALIA
In Australia every day close to 10% of the population doesn't get enough to eat, half of them children. One million children go to school without breakfast or to bed without dinner. Foodbank is the largest hunger relief organisation in Australia and fees 20,000 hungry people every day through 1,500 welfare agencies.
As an active participant in Foodbank Australia, we believe that the health and welfare of all Australians is paramount to the health of Australia as a whole. In 2005 Simplot Australia donated 142 tonnes of food to Foodbank, including pasta meals, Harvest canned meals and frozen vegetables and chips.
THE EDGELL JOG
Edgell with its operations located in Bathurst, New South Wales has been a major sponsor of the Edgell Bathurst Jog since 1976. The total number of participants over the 30 years of operations is in excess of 45,000 men, women and children.
In 1990 the Bathurst City Fit Group added a walkers section to raise the awareness of health and fitness through exercise and to promote family participation. Proceeds from the fun run are donated to charities in the Bathurst region. The record is held for the men by Shaun Creighton in 1997 of 21.46 minutes and for the women, Sonia Terry at 25.33 mins in 1989.
MACQUARIE RIVERCARE INC
Between 2001-2005 Simplot Australia contributed to the Macquarie Rivercare project which aims to regenerate the Macquarie river at Bathurst. The project is part of a mass planting to replace willow and poplar trees with native vegetation.
In 2005, Simplot Australia employees joined with students and conservation volunteers to plant native trees and shrubs.
BATHURST BUSINESS AWARDS
Simplot Australia donated $2,500 to the Bathurst Business Awards. We recognise the importance of encouraging small businesses in the Bathurst region.

Simplot Australia is an integral part of community life in central northern Tasmanian towns and regions of Devonport and Ulverstone. Simplot Australia endeavours to provide community sponsorships to support community clubs and associations including:

In 2005 Simplot Australia sponsored the Tasmanian Axemens' Association's Tasmanian Ten Thousand - the premier axe competition for the year.
Children of Simplot Australia employees who are selected in Tasmanian State sporting teams are also assisted in the defray of the costs and expenses involved in participating in such teams.
Ulverstone Service Clubs of Apex, Rotary and Lions are regularly supported by Simplot Australia. The Devonport Women's Association also receives support. Simplot Australia sponsors the Rural Award given annually in the Ulverstone Business Awards.
